Since SCS operates primarily through the mail, we are able to accommodate families from anywhere in the country. We have had member families in several different states as well as all over California! If you are considering enrollment and are out of state, check with Home School Legal Defense Association to find out your state's laws regarding out-of-state programs. Californians must enroll in California-based private schools.
Students entering 7th grade are required to show proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster immunization (called "Tdap") before the school year begins. This booster must be administered after the age of 7. As of the 2016-2017 school year, although it is still possible to get a medical exemption, there are no waivers for personal beliefs. However, students who are privately homeschooled are exempt from the immunization requirements for as long as they remain out of a campus-based school.
As of the 2014-15 school year, a student must be 6 years old by September 1 of the year he/she will be admitted into public Kindergarten. For many years, the cut-off date was December 2. The date has been pushed back over the past two years a will now remain at September 1.
